Today we had a different type of Free Friday giveaway, where we all asked you to finish the sentence - 'The funniest thing that has happened to me while driving was.....'
We had some cracking entries, in fact they all were brilliant so thanks to everyone who shared their stories. However there can only be 1 winner this week, but seeing as there were so many top ones to pick from we wanted to post our personal favourites here along with the winner - here they are:
Jimmy Bourke:' I Was throwing my fag butt out the window,never realised it was closed and broke my baby finger off the wndow. It was not a bit funny at the time but looking back at it now it is!! '....ouch!
Colm Dillion - "I hired a van for a house-move a few years back. The van was a VW transporter, hired from a VW dealer, a demonstration model with the words: "The All New Volkswagen Transporter Turbo-Diesel... etc" in huge letters on the side. I went to put diesel into the van and the attendant at the pumps told be that a bloke had had the same van in the previous week. Anyway, this other guy had stopped the van a few meters back from the pumps, jumped out and began examining the pumps one-by-one. The attendant went over to the driver to see if he was ok, to which the driver replied: "I see you have diesel for sale here, but you don't have any turbo-diesel".... "Do you know of any local garages that stock it?" "....amateur
Eoin Fanning: 'On road from Cork to Dublin a crow hit the window. Huge bang and there was a black thing landed on my mothers lap. She screamed as she thought it was the crow. Turned out the rear view mirror had fallen off the window'.....startled!
Jonathan Scales: 'The funniest thing that has happened me while driving is seeing a Garda that was on the side of the road with his speed gun get blown off his bike due to a lorry speeding past him lol'..........payback!
But the winner this week, and the one that mad us chuckle the most in here in MicksGarage was from Karen Doyle Browne:
